From savior to the rescued
On Sep 26, 2013, at 9.30 a.m. the "Marie Louise" was disabled after suffered a gearbox failure in the Elbe estuary. The Dutch f/v "Morgenstern" took the vessel in tow to Medem roads where the lifeboat "Vormann Jantzen" from the DGzRS-station Cuxhaven took over and pulled the casualty into the old fishing port of Cuxhaven at 11.45 a.m. The incident occurred only three days after the "Marie Louise" had assisted the Polish 15-tons-yacht "Ladys and Gentlemen" which had run aground on Scharhörn Reef on Sep 23 and had to be evacuated by the SAR helicopter of the naval nase in Helgoland. The crew of the "Marie Louise" had illuminated the grounding site with their spotlight while the crew of three had saved themselves onto the starboard side of the yacht which was later salvaged by the anti pollution vessel "Mellum" and taken to a yard in Cuxhaven.
