Crew member confined for coronoavirus suspicion
On Sep 10, 2020, a crew member on boardthe 'Margrete Læsø' felt unwell and was sent home in solitary confinement, as were other crew members who had been in direct contact with the sick colleague. The repatriation meant that the departure from Læsø at 6.40 p.m. was delayed, while the crew was changed and the ferry was cleaned. All passengers who were on the ferry to Læsø, departing at 4.50 p.m. from Frederikshavn, were registered with their name and telephone number, so that they can be contacted directly if it turns out that the sick crew member has Covid-19.
Crew member with coronaavirus suspicion isolated
A crew member on the 'Margrete Læsø' showed symptoms of coronavirus in the night of July 24, 2020, during a crossing between Frederikshavn and Læsø. The man was isolated in a cabin and all passengers were registered with name and contact information before they were allowed to leave the ferry. The crew member developed a high fever, and was tested for corona on arrival at Læsø. He remained isolated in the cabin during the return trip to Frederikshavn, where he was picked up by an ambulance and driven in isolation. The crew members who worked closely with him have been sent home so far, awaiting the health authorities' instructions and result of the test. Passengers will be able to follow the development of the case on the company's website. On July 25 the company advised that the test result was negative.
Repairs take longer than expected
Repairs of the "Margrete Læsø" will take longer than expected after the ferry on April 10 hit a large rock at the entrance to Vesterø harbor. Both the ship's bottom and the propeller, which suffered broken blades, were damaged, and spare parts were needed for repairs. The temporary sailing plan of the smaller ferry "Ane Læsø" has been extended while the larger one remained docked at the Karstensens Shipyard in Skagen. Initially it was hoped that the ferry could be ready next week, but now it was decided to extend the temporary sailing plan until May 6by the Læsø ferry company.
