Dismantling works slowly progressing

Dismantling efforts were continuing for the "Maren", which ran aground in Cide district of Kastamonu near the Alayazı village location, The ship, which cannot be refloated due to heavy damage, is to be disassembled and transported to Cide İlyasbey Port. The wreck is meanwhile listing heavily to port side with large parts submerged. The superstrcutture and the bow tip have been removed by May 2024. Divers carried out additional surveys

Dismantling of the 'Maren',which ran aground after its rudder locked, around Kerempe on April 1, has yet to commence. Divers conducted additional and detailed inspections and issued an under water inspection survey report. The vessel?s class status was withdrawn by Bureau Veritas classification society. The environmental permission is under progress for the dismantling operation.
