Bullcarrier aground off Argentia
The "Kure Harbour" ran aground in the morning of Apr 8, 2017, north of Argentia, Newfoundland, in the vicinity 47 21N 053 57W, while en route from Cartagena to Argentia in order to load a cargo of scrap. The ship was anchored at the time and was in the process of lifting its anchor when strong winds caused it to run aground. The tugs "Lois M", "Placentia Hope" and "Avalon Pilot" estaplished a towing connection and waited for the rising tide to allow them to free the ship. On Apr 9 the tug "Lois M" (IMO: 9017616) was still standing by the vessel which had been refloated at 6.30 p.m. and moored off the port for surveys by divers.
