In the afternoon of Feb 2, 2015, the "Undine 2" whilst coming from Tolkamer with a cargo of sand suffered an engine damage while sailing Rhine downstream. The crew of two, a Dutch couple, dropped anchor, but the current pushed the ship against a floating pier in Emmerich. The pontoon was breached and suffered water Ingress, the gangway was bent. The ship was taken alongside by another barge and taken to the port of Emmerich after the accident. The work boats "Wesel" and "Grieth" were called to keep the pontoon afloat and lift the gangway which had been pushed off back onto it, but this failed. A crane ship will have to be called in for repairs while another pontoon was brought in to secure the pontoon.
