Medevac off Port Elizabeth

On April 24, 2017, at 07.05 a.m., the NSRI Port Elizabeth high-angle extrication team, accompanied by a EC Government Health EMS rescue paramedic, onboard the "Ocean Spray", rendezvoused with the "Mandarin Phoenix2, sailing from Equatorial Guinnea to Durban, to medevac a 26 year old Chinese sailor suffering from disorientation and suspected dehydration. Upon arrival at the ship two miles from Port Elizabeth, the EMS rescue paramedic and NSRI crew were transferred aboard, where the patient was stabilised and taken onto the "Ocean Spray" which brought him to port from where an EMS ambulance transported the patient to hospital in a stable condition.
