Grounded cement carrier reached destination

Malta Cement pushed onto island rocks
The "Malta Cement" was pushed aground by winds of about 7m /s, off the island Kalvholmen on Apr 28. The ship's hull remained currently intact, and no oil has leaked. On board the "Malta Cement" were 77 cubic meters of heavy oil and 27.1 cubic meters of diesel fuel. The "Malta Cement" was loaded with cement and underway from Rostock to Sweden. Coast Guard divers were sent down in the evening to survey the hull. The environmental protection vessel "KBV031" was heading towards the grounding site. A tug will pull the ship from the shoal after approval by the Coast Guard Incident Commander and the Maritime Inspector of the Swedish Transport Agency.
Emergency anchoring off Anyang
In the afternoon of Apr 28, 2014, the "Malta Cement" was forced to an emergency anchoring at the Hjulsta Bridge in the Mälaren Lake south of Anyang. The ship had suffered steering problems and more or less a blackout. The Swedish Coast Guard, a pilot and tugs were on their way to the scene. Once the Situation was resolved, the ship was to be taken to the port of Västerås.
