Crew member who fell over board medevaced off Langeoog
In the afternoon of Aug 22, 2022, a 35 year old crew member of the 'Magni R' was injured when he fell from the ship on the North Sea and got his leg caught in a line. Nevertheless, he managed to climb back on board on his own. The completely soaked man then complained of severe pain in his leg. He needed urgent medical help. The volunteer crew of the lifeboat 'Secretarius' of the DGzRS station Langeoog was deployed to the ship, which was a few nautical miles north of Langeoog at that time, at around 2:45 p.m. Upon its arrival, the Polish seaman had already been provided with dry clothing and warm blankets. First, a rescue man climbed onto the ship and provided medical care to the patient. Subsequently, crew members of the hopper dredger supported the sea rescuers in transferring the victim onto the lifeboat in moderate sea conditions and a slight breeze from north-east. In Bensersiel, the man was handed over to the shore based rescue service, who took him to a nearby hospital.
