Medevac in Bermuda
The 'Maersk Valencia' diverted to Bermuda as a crew member needed medical attention after suffering an eye injury. The shipping agent assisting the container ship contacted RCC Bermuda to advise that the vessel was diverting to Bermuda to enable a crew member to attend hospital. On Dec 31, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. he was transferred to the pilot/rescue boat St George and taken ashore. The ship waited offshore and at noon the crew member was able to rejoin and the ship continued the voyage from Verberg to the Sunny Point Terminal North Carolina, where it arrived on Jan 2, 2021.
