BMW X2 cars destroyed in containers in storm off Brazil

Fri May 25 09:51:17 CEST 2018 Timsen

Several containers loaded with luxury cars, mostly BMW X2, collapsed on board of the "Maersk Lima", which berthed at the APM Global Logistic Argentina Container Terminal 4 in Buenos Aires, in the morning of May 23, 2018. Several cars were smashed, the losses were estimated to be some hundreds of thousands USD. APM Terminals said the BMW luxury cars, which were destroyed after an avalanche of containers, have already arrived in a damaged state and claimed that the affected containers did not suffer the accident in the port, but that happened on the high seas at the peak of Brazil. The containers on board of the vessel were destabilized during the ship’s sailing from Paranaguá to Buenos Aires. The "Maersk Lima" had experienced rough weather while crossing Rio Grande Do Sul. SHe arrived at Buenos Aires on May 19 and was still in port on May 25 while APM was assisting in relocating the containers.
