Bulkcarrier grounded off Mozambique port
On Sep 4, 2016, the "Gladiatorship" ran aground in Nacala when leaving the port bound for Richards Bay. The salvage company Kotug provided salvage assistance as the vessel was unable to refloat with own power and at risk of being damaged by the drop between high and low tide. Kotug employed two rotortugs to pull the ship off the beach and back into safe waters within two hours after running aground. The ship resumed the voyage after surveya and dropped anchor on Richards Bay Anchorage on Sep 8.
