Repairs in Chennai going on

The 'Patriot' could not complete repair work at berth CB1 in Chennai, and is still undergoing these. The vessel's schedule to leave port has been extended to Nov 27. The vessel would sail if repairs were completed.

One worker killed, three injured in fire

The 'Patriot' siffered a fire on Nov 10, 2023, at the Chennai Port. Workers used a gas cutter while attending to repair work near the engine, when sparks from the gas cutter fell on a pipe, causing a fire. One worker died instantly, while three others have been admitted to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital with injuries. The vessel had arrived at Chennai on Oct 30 for repairs. The Harbour police was investigating, while the ship remained at the Chennai International Terminals Pvt Ltd. (CITPL). The incident only briefly affected terminal operations.
