Fri Feb 01 08:20:34 CET 2019 arnekiel

Arrest in Kaoshiung

Mon Jan 07 18:30:38 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Torm Amazon" has been arrested in Kaoshiung on Jan 6, 2018, for a dispute between the shipping company and the First Ship Lease Trust in Singapore. The dispute was about payment for repair of two ships which the Danish shipping company has returned to the FLS Trust. Last summer, Torm delivered two product tankers - the "Torm Margrethe" and "Torm Marie" - back to their owner, FLS Trust in Singapore. According to the FLS Trust, the "Torm Margrethe" which is meanwhile sailing as "FSL Piraeus", was in such a statte that it was necessary to send the ship through a 16-day stay in dry dock - which cost the FLS Trust $ 1.9 million. The "Torm Marie", meanwhile renamed "FLS Perth" - was repaired for a smaller amount. The warring parties have not been able to agree on the claims, so the FLS Trust has now brought an action against Torm in the UK for the cost of repairing the "Torm Margrethe" and a case in Singapore for the "Torm Marie".
