Nine stowaways discovered on tanker

A patrol team from the Nigerian Navy Shore Base, NNS 'Beecroft', extracted nine stowaways from the rudder compartment of the 'Lysias' at the Apapa-Lagos anchorage on Feb 3, 2024. The Commander of the NNS 'Beecroft' stated on Feb 5, 2024, that the stowaways were discovered aboard the vessel, attempting to leave the country illegally. They were handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) following established protocols for further necessary action.
