Medevac off Calais

On June 6, 2014 at 3.30 p.m. the "Temara" informed the CROSS Gris-Nez that one of his sailors, aged 29, had fallen ill. The vessel was 7 nautical miles from the port of Calais. The CROSS Gris Nez held a conference call with the the center of maritime medical consultation in Toulouse and the Marine Medical Coordination Center of Le Havre. A medical evacuation by helicopter to the marine hospital in Boulogne was advised. The CROSS Gris Nez dispatched a Dauphin helicopter of the Navy Base in Le Touquet and a team of SMUR from Boulogne. At 4:30 p.m. the medical team was winched aboard the vessel to support the patient and transfer him aboard the Dolphin. The patient was delivered to the hospital Boulogne at 6 p.m.
