Engine trouble in Suez Canal

Mon Oct 03 20:36:39 CEST 2016 Timsen

The "Paraskevi" suffered engine trouble in the Suez Canal on Oct 3, 2016, while transiting in northern direction, on a leg between Suez and the Great Bitter Lake. After a few minutes, the problem was resolved, and the Bulkcarrier continued its transit with the help of canal tugs, reaching the Great Bitter Lake at 1.30 p.m. where it was waiting for her turn to enter northern leg of the Suez Canal.

Meanwhile 80 ships stuck due to grounding on Paraná

Fri Mar 21 10:40:45 CET 2014 Timsen

Three tugs have been working since days in order to dislodge the "Paraskevi", which was stranded at kilometer 407 of the Paraná river where it remained stuck with a list to port. Meanwhile eighty vessels were queued up waiting to load in Rosario and other ports. The Panamax was loaded with 45.000 tons of soybeans taken at Cargill's terminal of Villa Gobernador Galvez. It was believed there was some kind of engine blackout creating problems when maneuvering. Actually the "One Don Lorenzo" was remaining alongside the casualty at the grounding site.
