Loyalty Express sailing again one month after salvage

One month after the "Loyalty Express" was towed to Måløy, the ship left the port again on Mar 16 bound to Porto. On Feb 16 the ship enroute to Cape Verde had suffered engine problems in stormy weather off Bremangerlandet. The lifeboat "Halfdan Grieg" took the ship with its crew of eight in tow. A Port State Control after the ship was berthed in Måløy revealed damage to the hull which led to a detention. Another inspection verified that the imposed the repairs have been completed and the ship was cleared to leave. At 11 a.m. the ship was sailing southbound towards Vigo, ETA Mar 26.

Ship detained after engine breakdown

After the "Loyalty Express" berthed in the port of Måløy following its engine breaksown outside Bremanger on Feb 16, the ship was detained by inspectors who performed a port state control of the ship. They found deficiencies and refused the vessel to sail on until the defects at the hull have been rectified. The ship has a crew of eight on board. Cargo ship disabled in storm

On Feb 16, 2016, at 3.25 p.m. the lifeboat "Halfdan Grieg" was alerted to the "Loyalty Express" which had suffered engine breakdown four miles west of Bremangerlandet in stormy weather. Also the tug "BB Supporter" went on stand by to assist if it was needed, and a rescue helicopter from the 330st Squadron in Florø was summoned to the disabled ship with a crew of eight on board. At 4.20 p.m. a towing connection could be established, and almost two hours after the blackout the lifeboat with the unloaded cargo ship in tow reached the shelter of the port of Måløy. Winds were 32 meters per second in Sogn og Fjordane at that time.
