Speed log replaced

Wed Jan 09 13:43:41 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Louise Auerbach" left the North Port in Kiel after repairs on Jan 9 at 11 a.m., bound to Kingston, Jamaica, with an ETA as of Jan 24. A faulty speed log was found to have contributed to the accident. A replacement part had to be ordered and arrived only on Jan 8 and was immediately mounted. After the storm over the Baltic Sea abated, the ship continued its voyage.

Grounding in Kiel Canal

Sun Jan 06 18:00:17 CET 2019 Timsen

On Jan 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. the "Louise Auerbach", coming from Rauma, ran aground in the Kiel Canal between Suchsdorf and the locks in Kiel-Holtenau- The canal was completely barred for shipping. The tug "Stein" was called from Kiel and pulled the ship to the Voith Quay in Kiel after it backed out of the embankment at 3 p.m. Several ships queued during this time. Once berthed in Kiel, the police launched investigations.
