Dredger refloated
The 'Long Chau' has been successfully refloated on Nov 3. The tugs 'Cuu Long 27' and 'Cuu Long 09' which were dispatched by the Quy Nhon Maritime Port Authority, towed the vessel towards Quy Nhon port. The dredger with five crew members on board, had drifted from buoy 16 and grounded at the An Phu buoy wharf in the morning of Oct 31.
Typhoon grounded ships
From Oct 29-31, 2019, the typhoon No. 5 hit the Vietnames central provinces Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa. In the Quy Nhon Bay, seven anchored ships were blown ashore, among them the Vietnamese flagged 'Long Chau' with a crew of five on board. the 'Hoa Binh 45' with 16 people on board,the Vietnamese 'Truong Thanh 26' with eight people on board, the Panama flagged 'VSG Pride' with a crew of 19 and the Vietnamese 'Phu Trung 16' with six crew members on board. The ships grounded at the tip of Hai Minh off the port of Quy Nhon. The unloaded 'VSG Pride'grounded at the tip of Hai Minh. The 'Truong Thanh 26' initially drifted downstream to Quy Nhon Port and was left in front of Quy Nhon beach. The unloaded 'Hoa Binh 45' drifted from buoy 16 to the approach of Thi Nai port. The 'Long Chau' drifted from buoy 16 towards the An Phu buoy wharf and ran aground. The 'Khanh Ngoc 18' drifted along the 'Long Chau' and suffered a leak a reserve oil tank. The 'Phu Trung 16' drifted downstream and stranded as well as the 'Quang Vinh 09'.
