Container ship has to remain in Santos after positive testings
The 'Log-In Jatoba' had to remain stationary at the Libra Terminal 37 in the port of Santos. This decision was taken by Anvisa after 13 crew members were tested positive for COVID-19 in rapid tests conducted aboard the vessel on May 27. The vessel had completed its quarantine period on May 26, but due to the results from the rapid tests, it will still be unable to operate. Anvisa requested for a PCR type test to be carried out on the 13 crew members who have tested positive. -
Coronavirus cases lead to mandatory isolation of ships entering Argentine waters
The detection of 16 positive cases of coronavirus among the 21 crew members of athe 'Log-in Jatoba' and the contagion suffered by an Argentine pilot set off alarms in Argentina regarding river traffic, and triggered a series of measures. From now on, ships entering Argentine waters must complete 14 days of mandatory isolation from the date of departure of the last port of call, before mooring at the local docks. The ship had to be quarantined in the port of Santos and had been operating at the TRP container terminal in Buenos Aires. On May 12, the Brazilian health authorities detected at least 14 infected among the crew (to which two others were added), and determined that the ship was immediately placed in quarantine. In addition, it was confirmed that an Argentine overseas captain who operated as a pilot on that ship also tested positive for coronavirus. He had worked on May 6 and 7, and only on May 8 did he begin to show symptoms. During the weekend that passed, after notification from the maritime agency Login Mercosur to the Argentine health authorities, the Border Health authorities, the Undersecretariat of Ports, Waterways and Merchant Marine and the Pilotage and Pilotage Activities Chamber began to evaluate the situation and decided to take more precautionary measures.
