Engine failure off Isle of Wight
The 'Link Star', en route from Rauma to Santander with a crew of 10 on board, suffered an engine failure caused by what is believed to be problem with the fuel system, 17 miles from St. Catherines Lighthouse, Isle of Wight, in position 50 22 00N, 001 00 00W, on Sep 1, 2019, at 12.10 p.m. The needed repairs were estimated to take about one to two hours for completion. The vessel was carrying forest products, plywood and timber on board. The repairs have been completed at 1.15 p.m., and the ship resumed the voyage and berthed at the North Docks Terminal in Santander on Sep 3, 7.30 a.m.
Engine trouble off Newhaven
On Jan 12, 2018,at 11 p.m. the "Link Star" with a crew of nine on board experienced problems with its main engine 18 nautical miles south of Newhaven in position lat 50 32.600N, long 000 07.467W. The vessel had a cargo of 3726 tonnes of paper wheels on board and was bound from Rauma to El Ferrol. The crew effected repairs to the engine, and the ship berthed at El Ferrol on Jan 15 at 7.20 a.m.
