Medevac off Nantucket
The US Coast Guard conducted a medevac for an ill crew member on the "Liberty Passion" about 45 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, on March 16, 2017. At about 9 a.m., the Coast Guard Southeastern New England received a call from the doctor of the ship reporting the crew member was suffering abdominal pains and needed to be transported to the hospital. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod launched and arrived on scene at about 10:45 a.m. They airlifted the ill crewmember off the Liberty Passion and flew him to an airport in Hyannis where awaiting Emergency Medical Services transported him to Cape Cod Hospital.
