Grounded barge on the Rhine refloated
On March 22, 2019, at 8.50 a.m. the "Libero", 4187 ts (EU-No.: 02331440), suffered a technical problem and veered off course on the Rhine between St. Goar and Oberwesel. The ship got stuck close to the Geisenrücken with a cargo of rape. To get the vessel off, a specially certified dredger for food had to be called. In the foremidday of March 5 the "Niclas' started to lighter a part of the cargo onto the German flagged, self propelled barge "Mark Hardi II" (MMSI-No.: 211789530). The "Libero" refloated in the afternoon and was able to proceed to the port of Mannheim, where she berthed on March 6 at 3 a.m. for repairs. After receiving back the cargo then, she was to continue the voyage from Trier to Passau.
