Tanker drifted off Psathoura

Mon Feb 25 20:43:36 CET 2019 Timsen

The "Sea Beech" with a crew of 26 on board suffered a mechanical damage in the morning of Feb 25, 2019, off Psathoura island in pos. 9-32-24 N 024-20-42 E. The unloaded tanker had sailed from the port of Port Said and was bound to Istanbul. Two technicians were summoned by the shipping company 'Seaworld Management' and taken to the ship aboard a Greek helicopter, while two tugs were deployed with an ETA as of 7 p.m. At 5.20 p.m. the ship was adrift southwest of the island of Psathoura with a speed of 3 knots when the engineers announced that they managed to restart the main engine. Winds were east-northeast up to 6 Beaufort. After its arrival on scene the Greek tug "Megalochari VII" (IMO: 9354985) from Thessaloniki escorted the vessel on its way. The "Sea Beech" arrived at Yalova on March 7 at noon and berthed at the Besiktas Shipyard for repairs.
