Auction lined up for tanker

The Turkish government has lined up an auction for the 'Orestina' that has been under arrested in Tuzla since 2019. The Istanbul Bailiff's Office has invited bids for the vessel which is owned by the Ton Shipping. The sales notice said it was currently berthed at the Gentis Teresnasi shipyard in Tuzla. Starting bids will be at 50% of the Turkish assessment. The deadline for offers is Nov 2, 2020, with a second sale lined up on Nov 30, should the first fail. Bids can be lodged online at a Turkish government website from 20 days before the first date. The tanker was free from encumbrances, the Bailiff's Office said.

The 'Orestina' which has been stationary in Tuzla since April 2019, was arrested by a court, due to unpaid credits, at the beginning of Jan 2019. The vessel will be sold at auction by local court at Istanbul, Turkey, on Mar 20.

Repairs stopped due to financial trouble

Repairs of the 'Orestina' have reportedly been stopped due to financial problems of the owner. The ship had suffered an engine failure after ots departure from Las Palmas on Sep 7, 2018, and was subsequently towed to a Tuzla shipyard where it remained stationary as of Oct 28, 2019.
