Barge grounded on the Rhine
On June 14, 2016, at 12.43 p.m. the "Port de Mar", 2428 ts (EU-No.: 05501530) ran aground on the Rhine at river km 744 the Rheinkniebridge on the right river shore. The ship which was carrying a carog of coal suffered bow damage and water ingress. The ship's own two pumps were so far able to cope with the flooding. Rhine traffic was not affected. The fire rescue attended with divers, a fire boat and engines ready to assist in case the flooding increased. Around 4 p.m. a salvage attempt was to be undertaken. On scene were the fire boat Düsseldorf (MMSI: 211524640), the rescue boat Düsseldorf (MMSI: 211629890) and the Dutch barge "Temptation" (MMSI: 244620781). After refloating in the afternoon, the "Port de Mar" was taken to the port of Düsseldorf and left again around 7 p.m. The barge headed to Neuss, where she berthed on June 15 at 8 a.m. German reports with photos: http://www.rp-online.de/nrw/staedte/duesseldorf/blaulicht/frachter-auf-grund-gelaufen-aid-1.6046829 http://www.express.de/duesseldorf/duesseldorf-kohlefrachter-haengt-unter-der-rheinkniebruecke-fest-24226326?dmcid=sm_em http://www1.wdr.de/nachrichten/rheinland/frachter-leck-geschlagen-100.html
