Ship fined for polluting the sea
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) imposed a fine of 25.000 Lira on the 'Leader M' after she polluted the waters of the Mediterranean Sea enroute from Beirut, where she had sailed on Jan 27, 2021, to Mersin. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Coast Guard Command found that theship, anchored off Famagusta Port, had dumped its dirty wasts into the sea. The Famagusta Port Authority initiated a legal action against the ship which berthed at the Mersin Container Terminal on Feb 1 at 8.20 a.m.
Detention after port state control
The "Sunshine" was subjected to a Port State Control (PSC) inspection at the port of Kalymnos on Apr 4, 2018. Following the inspection, the vessel was detained at Kalymnos under Paris MOU regulations. The PSC inspectors found serious deficiencies and safety discrepancies in SOLAS, BoD MLC 2006, ICLL BoD, MARPOL BoD and ISM CODE.
