Fincantieri deliveres fourth super-luxury ship to Ponant

Sun Apr 12 10:12:18 CEST 2015 arnekiel

“Le Lyrial”, a super luxury cruise ship ordered to Fincantieri by the French cruise line Ponant (Bridgepoint Group), was launched today at the Ancona shipyard, the company said in its press release. The new ship, which will fly the French flag, is the fourth sister ship following "L'Austral", "Le Boreal" and “Le Soleal”, delivered respectively in May 2010, April 2011 and June 2013. As its sister ships, “Le Lyrial” can be compared to a mega-yacht. It is equipped with the very latest in environmentally friendly technology, while its small size means that it will be able to reach ports and destinations inaccessible to larger vessels. Also "The Lyrial" has an innovative design of public areas, that have been developed internally by Fincantieri with products and labor defined by a dedicated team "in house", and equipped with a lighting system of the latest generation of energy saving which involves exclusively LEDs made in Italy. At 11,000 gross tonnes, “Le Lyrial” is approximately 142 metres long and 18 wide. The passenger capacity is around 244 guests, accommodated in 122 cabins all with a sea view and 94% with a private balcony. What characterizes "The Lyrial" is the creation of an entire deck with cabins privilege suites and grand suites privilege larger than the previous sister ships. The ship has been equipped with cutting edge technologies to reduce environmental impact and for energy saving. In addition, “Le Lyrial” has such low levels of vibration and noise that it has been awarded “comfort class” classification by the certifying board Bureau Veritas. Ponant, based in Marseille, currently has a fleet of four cruise ships targeting the super luxury market.
