Three people rescued by yacht Lauren L
Three people have been taken to hospital in Fort William after they got into difficulties in a small boat. The craft started taking in water shortly after the two men and a woman ventured out onto Loch Linnhe. The emergency services were called at about 0100 BST and a rescue operation involving the police and Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) was launched. Crew members of a luxury yacht called Lauren L pulled the group to safety. They were taken to Belford Hospital. The three received treatment for the effects of exposure to cold temperatures. Northern Constabulary said it was investigating the incident. Oban lifeboat was launched to go to the aid of the craft, which the RNLI described as a white dinghy. The 90-metre Lauren L is a former cruise ship now run as a private charter yacht.
