Allision in Brunsbüttel

Wed Nov 20 11:02:54 CET 2019 Timsen

On Nov 20, 2019, at 09:55 a.m. the 'Korsoe', which had sailed from Ust-Luga on Nov 16 bound to Rouen with an ETA as of Nov 22, had an allision in the old northern lock of the Kiel Canal in Brunsbüttel after its westbound transit. The position lantern at port side was torn off when it got entangled with a railing on the lock which was damaged too. The crew welded it completely off and replaced it. The accident happened in dense fog with a visibilty of less than 50 meters. The water police Brunsbüttel investigated the accident. At 12.30 p.m. the ship left the lock and, after repairs were completed on the Elbe roads, continued its voyage.
