Grounding off Kotka
On Dec 5, 2014, the "Lady Hester" enroute from Rauma to Halla while passing the Ruotsinsalmi Strait ran aground at 06.50 a.m. The ship was laden with timber. Two boats of the Kotka Coast Guard Station, Kymenlaakso Rescue Department personnel, a Navy boat unit as well as other public authorities responded. The ship could be refloated with own power and was escorted to Kotka by the harbour tug Jupiter (MMSI: 276776000). After the ship was safely berthed at 8,30 a.m., it was to be inspected. The cause of the accident was still unclear, but there was dense fog at that time in the narrow waterway. The ship left port on Dec 6 and berthed at the shipyard Rīgas Kuģu Būvētava in Riga on Dec 8 at 8.40 a.m.
