River cruise ship holed on the Danube
On Aug 23, 2019, at noon the "Klimt" had a bottom touch on the Danube enroute from Regensburg to Amsterdam at river km 1939. On Aug 24 at 7.30 a.m. the ship was pulled onto the slip at the ÖSWAG Yard in Linz. Before, oil booms were laid out as a precaution and a bottom survey carried out by divers. When the ship got out of the water, a hole in the hull at port side became visible out of which diesel fuel poured. In the water, the pressure from outside had kept the fule in the tank, but once above water, the tank contents started to leak. The fire rescue deployed basins in which the fuel was disposed of. The ship had no passengers on board. On Aug 25 at 9.30 p.m. the ship left Liz and headed downstream with an ETA at Amsterdam as of Sep 2.
