Medevac in Weser estuary
In the morning of March 24, 2022, a medevac was carried out from the 'Kyoto Express', en route from Rotterdam to Hamburg, in the Weser estuary. At 9.50 a.m. the MRCC in Bremen was notified of a 32-year-old crew member from the Philippines whp complained of eye pain after working on board. After a consultation between the captain and an emergency paramedic, it was decided to medevac the injured man. The lifeboat 'Theo Fischer' of the DGzRS station in Bremerhaven was deployed and went alongside at 11.15 a.m. The patient was taken off and transported safely to Bremerhaven where he was handed over to the land rescue service, who drove him to an ophthalmologist.
