Bulkcarrier suffered engine trouble

Sat Jul 09 12:20:24 CEST 2016 Timsen

After the "Karaagac" left Chennai on June 1, 2016, bound for Kakinda, it suffered an engine failure shortly after sailing, and was moored on the outer anchorage of Chennai on July 2. The Indian Maritime Authorities requested the owner to move the vessel from the anchorage, finding her a threat to shipping. On June 24 it had ordered the arrest of the bulk carrier for crew wages debts, amounting $59,000, and the vessel’s non seaworthiness. The ship was checked by an ITF inspector and a number of detainable deficiencies were found which seemed to have been rectified since.
