The lighter vessel "Crown 2“ sank with a cargo of 2000 tons clinker of Feb 19, 2011, in the Bay of Bengal near Ramgati Point in the Hatia Channel. The crew of 12 was rescued. The ship had received the cargo from the "KS Trust" which anchored outside Chittagong Port to Meghna Holcim port in Dhaka. The vessel got stuck in a shoal in the morning during a tide. It tilted to a side and sank when a high tide hit in the afternoon. Movement of ships was unhampered along the port channel.
