Generator damage in Piraeus
In the afternoon of May 6, the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed about a generator malfunction of the 'Kriti II', while it was moored in the port of Piraeus ahead of its departure on a scheduled route for the port of Heraklion. The Port Department banned the ferry from sailing until the presentation of a class certificate by the monitoring classsification society. The passengers were forwarded to their destination by the ship's owning company.
Generator malfunction off Piraeus
On May 2, 2024, at noon the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed about the malfunction of a generator of the 'Kriti II' en route from the port of Heraklion to the port of Piraeus at 7.20 p.m. The ship was towed to port and safely disembarked the 131 passengers along with their vehicles. The Port Department of Tzelepi, which conducted the preliminary investigation, bannded the ferry from sailing until the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. The ship remained stationary as of May 5.
Ferry suffered engine damage
The Port Authorities of Poros, Lavrio, Saronikos, Aegina and Piraeus were informed in the morning of March 10, 2024, that the 'Kriti II' suffered a damage to the starboard side main engine on the scheduled route from the port of Chania to the port of Piraeus with 277 passengers and 81 crew members on board. The ferry sailed under its own power at reduced speed to the port of Piraeus, where it safely disembarked its passengers and vehicles. The Central Port Authority of Piraeus banned the ship from sailing until the repair of the damage and the presentation of a certificate of class maintenance by the monitoring classification society. Then was allowed to continue its scheduled route to the port of Heraklion.
