Smoke, but no fire on speed ferry
In the morning of June 14, 2019, there was was smoke development in the engine room of the "Kistefjell" outside Harstad. The Troms Police District first announced that there was a fire in the engine room. After the fire service was alerted it turned out that oil had spilt onto hot areas and created smoke, but no ppen flames. One person was driven to the emergency room for smoke inhalation. There were 56 passengers on board the boat when the incident occurred. None of them got exposed to smoke or was otherwise injured. The speedboat berthed at Harstad at 10 a.m. and remained stationary since.
Kistefjell lost propeller blade
The "Kistefjell" suffered a technical failure in the night of Apr 20, 2018. The ferry lost a propeller blade and was thus taken out of service, less than two weeks since the "Fløyfjell" was sidelined due to propeller problems. The "Jernøy" was called to replace the "Kistefjell" on the Tromsø-Harstad-route, however, this led to a reduced capacity on several departures.
Ferry sidelined due to technical trouble
Due to a technical failure aboard the "Kistefjell" the ship had to cancel the sailing from Tromsø to Harstad on Oct 4, 2015, at 8 p.m. Instead coaches were offered and the ferry from Harstad at 7.30 p.m. had additional calls at Engenes and Brøstadbotn while the "Kistefjell" was remaining sidelined in Tromsø. Sunday evening had hurtigbåten MS coffin Fjell from Harstad stop and go ashore on the meadows.
