Medevac in Balearic Sea

Wed Apr 20 09:39:52 CEST 2022 Timsen

On April 19, 2022, Salvamento Marítimo carried out a medical evacuation of a Georgian crew member from the 'Golar Glacier' 25 miles southeast of Barcelona due to a possible heart attack. The CCS Barcelona mobilized the SAR helicopter Helimer 204, which hoisted the victim and took him to the Sabadell airport, from where he was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Medevac off Casquets

Sun Feb 25 15:36:47 CET 2018 Timsen

On Feb 24, 2018, at 3:50 p.m. the CROSS Joburg was contacted by the British Coastguard asking them to coordinate a medical evacuation at the entrance of the Casquets Traffic Separation Scheme in the French SAR area. The "Golar Glacier", enroute from Algesiras to Rotterdam, reported that one of its crew members needed medical attention. After reading the medical report carried out by a British medical consultation center, the maritime medical coordination SAMU in Le Havre recommended a rapid evacuation of the patient by helicopter. At 4:26 p.m. the CROSS Jobourg dispatched a Caiman Navy helicopter from Maupertus wit a team of the medical center of the army in Querqueville on board. Around 5:20 p.m. the helicopter transferred the medical team onto the ship. The patient was taken care of and conditioned to be evacuated. At 6:18 p.m., the helicopter landed at the civil airport of Cherbourg where the man was taken in charge by the firefighters and taken to the Louis Pasteur hospital in Cherbourg.
