SCF Melampus set sail for Nigeria
LNG carrier SCF Melampus which joined the fleet of Sovcomflot (SCF Group) in early January 2015 has successfully passed the inspection of the chartering company Shell and set sail for Bonny Island (Nigeria) where Nigeria LNG plant (owned by international consortium of Shell, Total, Eni and NNPC) is located, says press center of SCF. On her first voyage with cargo SCF Melampus is supposed to call at one of the ports in the South-East Asia. SCF Melampus is the third tanker in a series of state-of-the-art vessels to be built under a partnership agreement between Sovcomflot and the shipyard STX Offshore & Shipbuilding. The naming ceremony was held for SCF Melampus on December 16, 2014.
Sovcomflot Gets Cash for LNG Carrier Newbuilds
OAO Sovcomflot (SCF Group) announced on Dec. 8 the signing of a new USD $319 million, 10 year credit facility which the company says will be used to finance two new ice-class LNG carriers under construction at STX Shipbuilding. The two ships are the SCF Melampus and SCF Mitre, which will operate on long-term contracts with the Shell Group once delivered in December 2014 and April 2015, respectively.
