Ship allegedly struck by Houthi missile
The Houthis claimed to have struck the 'Koi' with a missile in the Gulf of Aden, hours after claiming to have targeted the American destroyer USS 'Gravely' with several naval missiles in the Red Sea. The container vessel reported an explosion on its starboard side. The AIS transponder was switched off. The ship was positioned south of Yemen on Jan 28, 20234, en route from Mundra to Piraeus with an ETa as of Feb 6. The vessel briefly altered course to assist in the medevac of a crew member who had fallen ill. The 'Koi' came near the boundary between Oman and Yemen on Jan 30 at around 10.30 a.m. GMT. The ship then showed up at the Djibouti anchorage on Jan 31 rather than continuing into the Red Sea and Suez Canal as scheduled. CMA CGM denied that the ship was struck by a missile.
