Lifeboat and emergency services kept yacht afloat

Several emergency services were deployed in the morning of Nov 6, 2022, for a sailing yacht that had reported water ingress on the Oosterschelde. with two people on board at 06:45 a.m. near Gorishoek. The fire boat 'Scaldis' from Stavenisse, the salvage vessel 'Mistral' and the 'Jan van Engelenburg' were then alerted. Rescuers pf the 'Scaldis' and 'Mistral' boarded the yacht witn additional pumps and managed tp pump the water out. It soon became apparent that there was no leak, but that waves had caused water to enter. The yacht was towed to the Bergse deep lock and moored there. Meanwhile, the 'Jan van Engelenburg' leeched, so that the tow was affected as little as possible by wind and waves.
