Warning of drifting debris after vessel sank

On Sep 24 a Hydropac warning was issued that debris from the 'Knidos', which has sunk in the vicinity of pos. 25-35.02 N 054-51.15 E was drifting in the Persian Gulf, Mariners in the area were advised to navigate with caution and keep clear of the above position.

Damaged ship in bad situation

While the cause of the collision with the 'Nadeen' was not yet known, the 'Knidos' was in a very bad situation in the Arabian Gulf. It could sink after being hit by the bulk carrier. The 13 crew members of the 'Knidos' were able to evacuate on the lifeboats and were picked up by the 'Nadeen', which is currently anchored off Dubai. The 'Knidos', hit at its stern, was suffering from a water ingress and flooding of the engine room.

Vessel abandoned after collision

On Sep 9, 2024, shortly after midnight the 'Knidos', outbound from the Dammam Port enroute to the Mina Saqr Port, was in danger of sinking after the collision with the bulk carrier 'Nadeen' (IMO: 9324710), in the Middle East Gulf. The ship was hit at the starboard stern quarter, and the engine room began taking on water. The 13 crew members abandoned the vessel and were recovered from a life raft and taken aboard the 'Nadeen', which was en route from Doha to Um Qasr.
