Ferry grounded on uninhabited island

Thu Dec 30 10:38:22 CET 2021 Timsen

On Dec 29, 2021, the KMP 'Amadea' ran aground with 342 passengers and 97 vehicles in board off the uninhabited Kandang Lunik Island, Lampung, while serving the serving the Bakauheni Sumatra – Merak Java route. The ferry had departed from Pier 3 in Bakauheni Port at 10 p.m. and got stuck ten minutes later. On Dec 30 at 8 a.m. the situation was unchanged. There had been no food and beverage assistance from the ship or ASDP Bakauheni so the passengers complained of starvation meanwhile. Two tugs were deployed to assist. Strong winds were thought to have contributed to the accident. Report with video: https://m.metrotvnews.com/play/b2lCOld5-kmp-amadea-terjebak-di-pulau-kandang-lunik-akibat-cuaca-buruk
