Fire on ferry in Bali Strait
The "Labitra Abinda", which was sailing between Gilimanuk in Bali and Ketapang in Java, caught fire in the afternoon of May 17, 2018, while crossing the Bali Strait en route to Ketapang, with 15 crew members and about 20 passengers and 13 vehicles on board. The upper deck was engulfed by fire, and some passengers panicked, but all were safely evacuated. Some passengers were hospitalized. The fire was extinguished with the water canon of the tug and the ship run aground on the beach.
