Collision in Izmail
The 'KLC Erciyes', en route from Istanbul to Izmail, was in collision with the cargo m/v 'Jasmin Queen' (IMO: 9109861 at Izmail on July 1. Subsequently, the 'KLC Erciyes' was safely berthed at the nominated pier with tug assistance. An incident investigation file has been opened by the Harbour Master incident investigation desk. H&M, Class, and P&I surveyors attended onboard and carried out damage surveys in order to ascertain the cause of the incident and the extent of damages. No injury and pollution was reported. The vessel's departure permission was temporarily cancelled until the completion of damage surveys and an incident investigation. The 'Jasmin Queen's damage survey was completed together with the loading operation. The ship was granted departure permission and sailed from Izmail on July 4 to Alexandria with an ETA as of July 16.
Detained bulk carrier released
The 'Serdika' which had been arrested at Sunderland on July 20,. 2021, with 22 defiencies, two of which being serious, was released on Aug 4. At 12.25 p.m. the shop left the port, headed to Nantes, where it arrived on Aug 9 before continuing to Ghent on Aug 13 with an ETA as of Aug 16.
1st 'saltie' of season arrives in Twin Ports
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — The first oceangoing vessel of the 2015 shipping season has pulled into the Port of Duluth-Superior. The Kom, flagged in Malta, sailed under the Aerial Lift Bridge around noon Monday as spectators watched in sunny spring weather. The vessel is the first "saltie" this year to make it to the head of the Great Lakes after making the 2,342-mile journey through the St. Lawrence Seaway and the lakes. According to port officials, the Kom started the voyage in Spain. The 465-foot-long ship arrived to load grain at two terminals in Superior, Wisconsin, and then will return to Europe with the wheat, which will be milled into flour for pasta.
