Tanker left Ijmuiden, bridge repaired

The "Keizersgracht" left the port of IJmuiden again on July 21 at 10.30 a.m. The damaged bridge in Dorkwerd could be reopened for vehicle traffic after repairs on July 20.

Allision with bridge in Dorkwerd

In the afternoon of July 19, 2016, the "Keizersgracht", 620 ts (EU-No.: 2205324), allided with the new bridge at Dorkwerd on the Van Starkenborgh Canal. The roof of the wheelhouse was torn off, the wheelhouse severely damaged. No injuries were reported. Rijkswaterstaat launched an investigation into the accident. Divers from Grijpskerk jointly with a dredger of the Mechielsen cleared the debris. The tanker which was coming from Groningen was allowed to continue the voyage from Groningen to Ijmuiden where it berthed around 7 p.m. The bridge had to be closed for traffic due to the damage suffered on July 19.
