Third bulker grounding on Paraná River within one week
For the third time within a week,a large bulk carrier ran aground on the Paraná River. This time it was the "Dubai Energy" which was loaded with 41.000 tons iron ore and exceeded the maximum draught of 7,68 meters. The ship got stuck on May 26, 2015, at 3:10 a.m. close to San Pedro port. The vessel had just departed from San Nicolas de Los and was bound to Recalada. The tugs "Tumbador 1" and "Argentino 1" were dispatched to refloat it. The river actually has very low water levels due to drought in Brazil so that the shipping channels are not deep enough.
