Cargo ship aground off Kragerø

Sun May 18 19:20:09 CEST 2014 Timsen

Enroute from Hirtshals to Oslo the "Karmsund" ran aground aground around 40-50 meters from the shore in the Lovisenberg Sound at Langtangen after having left Kragerø on May 17, 2014, at 3.15 p.m. The crew of 10 was not inured. The tugs "Evis" and "Triset" were called to assist and refloated the vessel on May 18. The unloaded ship was damaged at the bow, had suffered a leak in one or two ballast tanks and took in some water. The cause of the accident was thought to be a navigational error. The “Karmsund” hat pilot assistance. After the vessel was refloated, it was moored in Helle before proceeding to the Odense Steel Yard in Lindö on May 19. The Telemark police investigated the accident.
