Wed Jun 25 10:51:21 CEST 2014 Timsen

On June 24, 2014, the "Karin", enroute from Amsterdam to Bulgaria, ran aground on the Danube near the freeway bridge of the A 92 at Deggendorf. The ship, which was was loaded with a cargo of 560 tons fertilizer, drifted perpendicular to the river thus blocking the fairway. After it was refloated due to the rising tide, the river authority ordered the ship to berth at the Wallnerlände in Deggendorf while a ship sounded the river bottom. Ship traffic would be resumed in the foremidday of June 25 at the earliest.
