Trawler disabled by net and towed to Casteltownbere
Nets of the "Kapitan Nazin" became entangled around its steering gear propeller complex on Feb 7, 2019, at 10.25 p.m. while fishing in the vicinity of Rockall Bank, in the North Atlantic. As a result, the vessel lost power and went adrift, while the crewwas trying to release the net. The safety was provided by the Russian trawler "Kapitan Demidenko". Weather in the area was northwest wind of up to 20 m/s, with a swell of five meters. The "Kapitan Nazin" was taken in tow by the "Kapitan Demidenko" on Feb 9 at noon towards Castletownbere. On Feb 10, the Irish tug "Ocean Challenge" took over the tow off the coast of Castletownbere and anchored the "Kapitan Nazin" on Castletownbere Roads at 8 p.m.
